Attachments Being Blocked by Outlook Express 6
Outlook Express 6 SP1 by default blocks the ability to open or save various attachments, this includes Executable files such as installation programs.
Symptoms include the message "Outlook Express removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your email: filename"
To restore the ability to open or save attachments you have to:
- Start Outlook Express 6.
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Security tab, click to clear the "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" check box under Virus Protection, and then click OK.
Now close Outlook Express 6 and the settings will take place once you restart the email program.
Note: Please take care when opening any attachments now on as Outlook Express will allow access to all attachments. A virus scanner is recommended to protect your computer from viruses.
